It's that time of year! We hope you can join us as we celebrate another season of #LiteracyOLanterns. Participating is fun and easy:
Pick a pumpkin and choose a favorite book.
Sketch the cover (or main character) using a permanent marker.
Fill in the black outline using acrylic paint...just like a paint-by-number.
Post a picture to our hashtag on your favorite social media channel (#LiteracyOLanterns).
Be sure to check the hashtag often so you can "follow" other literacy-loving educators, and share their cool creations with students!
Feel free to paint your own, participate with your class, or host a pumpkin-painting party at your next staff meeting! Looking for additional inspiration? Print out this free downloadable poster containing 42 colorful characters featured on past pumpkins.
Don't see your favorite book featured on the poster? This year you can nominate a book, author, or educator for me to paint (along with the five book characters I've already selected). All you need to do to is leave a comment below or connect with me on social media to make your nomination. I'll reveal one lucky person (or character) closer to Halloween!
